Joe Mixon is entering his third year in the NFL and is coming off a really good 2018 season. A season in which he finished as the number 9 fantasy running back which is up 23 sports from his 32 running back finish in his rookie season. Based off his first ow years Mixon should continue to improve and finish even higher right?
I currently have Mixon as my 7th running back right behind David Johnson. Something that worries me this year about Mixon is his offensive line won’t be very good their 2019 first round draft pick Johana Williams is out for the year. It is always nice to have someone running behind a good offensive line, but really good running backs can still get the job done with a subpar line. In 2018 Joe Mixon only playing in 13 games had 237 rushing attempts for 1,168 yards and 8 touchdowns. Mixon caught 43 of his 55 targets for 296 yards and 1 more touchdown.
Joe Mixon in 2019 was either a really solid RB 1 or he finished as a RB 3, there wasn’t much in between. He finished as a RB 1 50% of the time he only had one game as a RB 2 and that was week 17 when he finished as the RB 20. Mixon finished as a top 5 RB on the week 30% of the time he played. Mixon is a monster inside the 10 yard line, he scored 7 of his 8 touchdowns inside the 10 and 6 touchdowns inside the 5 yard line. When the Bengals make it inside the 10 they feed Mixon the ball and he punches it in. Mixon is someone who is going to be involved regardless of the score and is someone who should finished inside the top 10 if he plays 16.
Joe Mixon is being drafted as the 8th running back off the board at the 1.11. He is right behind LeVeon Bell, Michael Thomas, and Julio Jones but ahead of James Conner, Odell Beckham Jr, and JuJu Smith-Schuster. At his current average draft position you are getting a good deal on Mixon and if you have a late 1st round pick in a 12 team league you will be able to pair him with an elite wide receiver and start your team off in a great way.
