Last season Vance McDonald finished with 610 yards off of 50 receptions, in 15 games played. He had a total of 4 touchdowns all coming from a total of 73 targets. Pittsburgh has had so much going on from last season, we are all aware of the gains and losses. With the losses of Brown, Bell, and Jesse James targets are going everywhere.
Check out Vance McDonald’s 2019 Fantasy OutlookTweet
JuJu will most likely see a huge jump in targets and the back field for sure. But the most attractive thing about all this, the letting go of Jesse James. Vance is now the # 1 tight end in Pittsburgh, which I’m sure he is going to be heavily utilized. McDonald thrives in the middle of the field and yards after catch. He was averaging 8.1 yards a carry after the catch up the middle. I’m sure we all remember the Tampa Bay game with 75 yarder.
Vance had his best season with highs all across the board, I believe it’s going to double next season. Pittsburgh is highest in the NFL with pass attempts at an average of 43.1 a game. I believe McDonald with finish with 85 receptions, 1,000 yards, and 10 touchdowns. Ben said he is chasing a super bowl and I think Vance is going to be a top target and a top 5 tight end this season.
In the draft and fantasy purposes, McDonald is going in the back end of the 7th round at 11th, which is averaging 82nd overall. He’s going up against guys like Kelce, Ertz, and Kittle. Kelce is going in the second round, Ertz is going in the 3rd, and Kittle as well is right behind late in the 3rd. If you draft a tight end so soon your loosing out on top tier running backs and wide receivers at least RB 2’s and WR 2’s. You can still find top ten tight ends later in the draft, maybe a late 6 or 7th pick. I would recommend stack your more important spots in the beginning to late snag another star. Last season was terrible for tight ends and people are lost thinking there’s only 3 good tight ends, I would say keep your eyes on Vance McDonald he has the potential to have a huge season.
