3 Fantasy Football Tight Ends to Target in 2019!Tweet
The tight end position was a wasteland in 2018. If you did not have one of the top three guys you were in trouble. For example Trey Burton finished as the number 7 tight end in .5 ppr leagues. If you had Trey Burton on your team in 2018 you were not happy with him on your team. In this article we take a look at three tight ends that you can grab late and if they hit they could win you a championship.
Delanie Walker – Tennessee Titans (ADP 10.05)
Delanie Walker is someone who used to dominating force at the tight end position. Prior to 2018 in which Walker played 1 game and got hurt missing the rest of the season, he finished inside the top 12 every year since 2013. Including 3 straight top 6 years.
Walker when on the field is one of the best tight ends in the game. He is likely the number one target on the Titans. If you punt on the position and are looking for a needle in the haystack pick up Walker.
Mark Andrews – Baltimore Ravens (ADP 12.08)
Mark Andrews is my favorite sleeper tight end for the 2019 season. In his rookie season Andrews finished as the number 17 tight end on the season. Andrews caught 34 of 50 targets for 552 yards and 3 touchdowns. In 2018 Andrews is primed to have a massive year.
Mark Andrews so far this preseason has 3 of 4 targets for 36 yards and has been heavily involved in preseason and practice. Lamar Jackson is bound to become a better passer in 2019 than 2018. I see Andrews becoming the number one receiving option in this offense and a safety blanket for Jackson. Just like he had the emergence of George Kittle last year I think we could see the same thing with Mark Andrews.
Noah Fant – Denver Broncos (Undrafted)
Before you say rookie tight ends never preform well for fantasy and click away hear me out first. Noah Fant rookie right end for the Denver Broncos is currently going undrafted. This means you don’t have to draft him, and I am not advocating you draft him. What I will advocate for is that you watch the waiver wire like crazy for Fant.
Noah Fant is playing with Joe Flacco, a quarterback who is consistently known for targeting his tight end. I think Flacco could make Fant relevant for a couple of games this year. If you get yourself into a situation where late in the season you need a tight end off the waiver wire Fant is your guy. Fant is one of the top receiving options on the team, has been consistently involved in training camp + preseason, and has a quarterback that wants to throw him the football. To me, he has sneaky top 12 potential in his rookie season.
