Why John Ross’ Return Will Win You Your League

Why John Ross’ Return Will Win You Your League

After a torrid hot start to the 2019 season, John Ross quickly found himself on IR. A tragic loss not only for Bengals but for fantasy owners everywhere. Ross was looking to finally breakout from his early career slump before a shoulder injury cut down his season in half. Now set to return for week 13 with a cupcake schedule to close out the year and absolutely nothing to lose, here’s why John Ross will win you your championship.

Previous Production and Easy Schedule

Ross blew up to start the season, recording back to back 100+ yard games with 3 TDs. Including 112 yards and a touchdown against the stout 49ers defense. Ross then cooled off a bit, as most people would expect, but it was clear Ross was ready for one helluva year. Now that Ross is back, he is going to get the chance to go up against some of the weakest teams in the game, including Miami and the Jets. The only game that is worrisome is the Patriots week 15 game, which could either be very bad for Ross, or result in lots of garbage time points.

The key game is the week 16 matchup against the Dolphins, which for most fantasy owners is championship week. Ross is a great stash solely for this reason here. If your team can make it to the champioship than Ross is the boost that will help you capture the title.

A big thing to note is Ross will not be back till week 13 against the Jets. Ross is only 11% owned and can be stashed on your IR spot until then. As soon as you’re done reading this article and before you go and check out other awesome articles on Time Skewed, go and pick up this guy and at least stash him on IR until week 13.

Nothing to lose

Once the Benagls annoucned that Dalton’s season was over and that Finley would be starting at QB, we knew the Bengals season was affectively over. The big thing here is that means that this team is not going to play the clock, not going to try and establish the run, this team is going to pass, a lot. The Bengals are going to want to see what they got in Finley, which means that all Bengals receivers will benefit form extra attention. Especially Ross, who is a playmaker once the ball is in his hands. He can turn on the jets and take it to the house against the many weak corners he will play.

Ross benefits from Boyd already being the established number one receiver, and even if A.J. Green returns, that just means weaker coverage for Ross to go up against. Ross should easily get back to a fast start against the Jets in week 13. Ross also has a really nice matchup against the weak Cleveland Browns defense which shouldn’t be able to keep up with his speed.

Now, by no means should you make a sarifice for Ross. He is a gamble still, though a very good one. Even if Ross comes back quietly, his championship week matchup against Miami is the key game here. If Ross is still around then and you can afford to start him, that’s the perfect strike to win you a championship.
