Battle for the 1 Seed out West: Packers vs 49ers Fantasy Preview

Battle for the 1 Seed out West: Packers vs 49ers Fantasy Preview

The Green Bay Packers (8-2) take on the San Francisco 49ers (9-1) at Levi’s Stadium. In this pivotal Prime Time Week 12 matchup, the Packers will need to win this game in order to have a chance at acquiring the Number 1 seed in the NFC. I have a gut feeling that George Kittle will be on the field for the 49ers as this is one of the most important games of the season thus far.

In order for the Packers to win this game controlling the clock will be the key. The Green Bay O-line (David Bakhtiari, Corey Linsley, and Bryan Bulaga) will need to establish themselves against that great 49ers defensive front led by young rookie pass rusher Nick Bosa. Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams will be crucial to keeping the 49ers offense off the field and wearing down the Niners defense.

The 49ers were pass heavy in their win against Arizona last week but I expect them to flip the script this week and go for a clock management style of running the football with Tevin Coleman, and Raheem Mostert. Matt Breida will likely be out for this matchup. The reason for this approach will be to keep Aaron Rodgers off the field as long as possible. So the Green Bay defense who has struggled against the run this year will need to buckle down and win the battle in the trenches.

Green Bay has won games many different ways this year and that shows what a powerful team they are. Rodgers will need to be on his “A” game this week. With that being said the score prediction I will give is Packers 27-49ers 24. Green Bay takes this one on a last second field goal from Mason Crosby.

Fantasy Outlook

No Doubt Starters

Packers: WR Davante Adams, QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Aaron Jones

49ers: RB Tevin Coleman, 49ers defense

They all confidently get starts because of the volume of touches each one will receive. Niners defense has been dominant all year.

On the fence players

Packers: None

49ers: WR;s Emmauel Sanders, Deebo Samuel

They make the list because Sanders has a chance to re-injure his ribs and Samuel is a boom or bust type of player

Sit

Packers: TE Jimmy Graham, WRs Marques Valdez-Scantling, Geronimo Allison, Packers defense

49ers: QB Jimmy Garoppolo, WR Dante Pettis, RB Jeff Wilson
