Raven's Flock Week 14: AFC top teams face off in Buffalo

Raven’s Flock Week 14: AFC top teams face off in Buffalo

Ravens Toughest Test Passed in Potential Super Bowl Preview

The Raven’s added another win to total of an eight game win streak with the most recent victim being the San Francisco 49ers. But it wasn’t easy. Sam Koch had his busiest game in a while, where the 49ers forcing the Ravens to punt twice with a strong defensive game throughout. They held the Baltimore high powered offense to its fewest points this season and even caused Lamar Jackson to fumble. It was a true test for the Raven’s resiliency as they were faced with true controversy to overcome. With the score tied entering the fourth quarter both teams failed to convert fourth down conversions. The ravens had another fourth down opportunity with six minutes remaining in the game, Harbaugh knew it was make or break time for the Ravens. Baltimore has found great success with a 75% conversion rate on fourth down. With a strong run from Jackson the Ravens continued the game winning drive. The Ravens called on the most accurate kicker in NFL history, Justin Tucker, for a game winning field goal from 49 yards out. And now here we are, with the Ravens on top of the AFC at 10-2 and are away from Baltimore to take on the 9-3 Buffalo Bills.

AFC Playoff Implications

As previously mentioned, the Ravens are in the midst of an eight game win streak. This comes on their toughest stretch of the season, beating the likes of the Patriots, Seahawks, Texans, and now the 49ers. They now sit on top of the AFC but it may be different depending on the outcome of not only this game, but the Patriots/Chiefs game as well.

The Bills are being led by Josh Allen to their best start of the season since 1996. With the Texans dominate victory over the Patriots, Buffalo is within striking distance to overtake the AFC East. With a win here and chiefs win, the bills would be tied in record for the division with the patriots only edge being their match up win earlier in the season. And it was hardly a win, with Josh Allen exiting the game on a game winning drive opportunity. A win for Buffalo and Kansas City would also mean a three way tie between the Ravens, Patriots, and Bills. These two matchups will help shape the AFC playoff picture greatly, so keep an eye on these games.

Fantasy Impacts

Fantasy Untouchables: Lamar Jackson, Mark Ingram, Mark Andrews, Justin Tucker, Ravens Defense. With fantasy playoffs underway these guys all have to be ride or die quality. If you drafted any of these guys they earned you at the very least a playoff contention so let them win the league for you now. With the Bills leaning on a toughening Defense, Brown/Roberts are boom or bust flex plays. Gus Edwards isn’t a viable option this week either.

Bold Prediction

Both teams are extremely healthy heading into this match up. I expect both the Bills and Ravens to rely on a heavy rushing attack to tire the defenses so expect this game to clock to wind down fast. It will rely heavily on the Devin Singletary’s performance, and the containment of Lamar Jackson by the Bills Defense. If the Ravens are going to lose any other game this season it will be this one but by a narrow margin. And it would certainly entail a interesting twist to the playoff picture. I expect this game to be exciting but have the Bills taking this 24-20.
