Fantasy Football Injuries From Week 14 That Could Cost you a Championship

Fantasy Football Injuries From Week 14 That Could Cost you a Championship

The fantasy playoffs started this week. Unfortunately, some major players were injured this week. Heading into the next round its important to review the status of your players and decide who is going to play this week.

Alshon Jeffery – PHI- WR:

In Monday nights game Alshon pulled up on a route and needed to be helped to the medical tent. It appeared to be a non-contact injury which is normally not a good sign. Apparently, Jeffery felt something pop when he was trying to accelerate on the route. The original fear was that it could have been his Achilles, but that has been ruled out as of Tuesday Morning. He is heading to get testing done Tuesday morning, so we will have to wait and see what the results are. As of right now with the injury being non-contact and the “pop” I would expect that Jeffery is going to miss at least this week.

Lamar Jackson- BAL- QB:

Jackson popped up on the injury report on Monday with a quad injury. There didn’t appear to be a play in which he was hurt in the game on Sunday. This is an injury to keep an eye on this week, as soft tissue injuries can hang around. I expect that Jackson is still going to play this week, but make sure to check the status as the week goes on to see how limited in practice he is this week.

T.Y Hilton – IND- WR:

Hilton has been dealing with a calf strain for the last few weeks. This injury is hard to play through at WR especially because of the acceleration and jumping required. The Colts have been cautious with him since he has been out. With the Colts playoff hopes dwindling I don’t think that Hilton or the Colts are going to push to get him back on the field before he is ready. Monitor the injury reports from the Colts this week to see how much he is practicing but I do not expect that Hilton is going to play again this week.

Jameis Winston- TB- QB:

Winston injured his hand during the game on Sunday and was out of the game for a few snaps while he was getting it looked at. After getting some tests done on Monday it looks like he has broken his thumb on his throwing hand. He will most likely be limited in practice this week as he tries to rest his hand. The Bucs plan to try and play Winston this coming week. This is another player to watch this week on the practice report, but I expect that he is going to play this weekend. I would target a streamer or have a backup plan in case the pain causes him to miss time or he is unable to play on game day.

DJ Chark -JAX- WR:

Chark started the year off well and has been a pleasant surprise for most teams that drafted him. During this weekend game, he was seen limping and favoring his ankle on the sidelines. After the game, Chark was seen using a scooter to get around and keeping weight off of his ankle. On Monday Chark was seen in a walking boot and is listed as day-to-day for now. It looks like his injury was a high ankle sprain, but the severity is unknown right now. This is another injury to keep an eye on this week and monitor the reports coming out of Jacksonville. Right now I do not expect that Chark is going to play this week.

Mike Evans -TB- WR:

Evans was having a good game against the Colts, but he pulled up and appeared to be favoring his hamstring. After the game Arians was not optimistic about his chances to play this coming week, so it didn’t appear that the fantasy value for Evans was looking good for the remainder of the playoffs. As of Tuesday morning, the worst fears have been confirmed. Evans is almost a lock to miss this week, and there is a concern that unless he shows great improvement in the next few days that he will miss the rest of the year. This is sad for one of the best WR in the game to miss this much time especially at the end of the year. With the reports coming out of Tampa I don’t expect that we will see Evans the rest of this year.

Derrius Guice – WAS- RB:

Guice has struggled with injuries since coming into the league. Since returning from his injury at the beginning of the season Guice had been showing off the last few games and raising some eyebrows with his explosive plays. This weekend he went down after injuring his knee. He had an MRI on Monday and it was diagnosed as an MCL sprain and his ACL is intact. The good news is that he does not have another injury requiring surgery and recovery time. The bad news is that the Redskins have already ruled Guice out this week, which is a shame considering how he had been playing the last few weeks. Obviously, Guice is out of lineups this week, and I would be surprised if we saw Guice on the field again before week 17.

Rashad Penny- SEA- RB:

Penny had a huge game in week 13, and it looked like he was going to start splitting snaps with Carson. Penny got a carry early in the game this weekend and he went down after his leg planted awkwardly, and instantly grabbed for his knee. As soon as the injury occurred it was feared that the injury was going
