Time for Carson Wentz to get the Dallas Monkey Off his Back

Time for Carson Wentz to get the Dallas Monkey Off his Back

When it comes to NFC East opponents Carson Wentz and the Eagles have had their difficulties but in the end walks out with the win. Carson has won every game against the Giants with his only loss being his first game against the Giants his rookie Year. Since then he’s won 5 straight. Wentz has also won 5 straight against Washington as well with this past Sunday’s win to keep them in the NFC East divisional title hopes. However when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, this is the opponent that they can’t shake.

Dallas has won the last 4 against Carson Wentz and the Eagles and with the recent one was a 37-10 blowout on Sunday Night in Arlington. Back to fumbles on the 1st two drives for the offense put them in a 14-0 hole that they were never able to climb out of. Which then snowballed to the worst game Carson has played all season long.

“Last 3 games against Dallas: 0-3 record 68.6% 259 Passing YPG 6 TDs 3 INTs and 3 fumbles lost.”

All season Wentz has only had one game where he had all his projected starters offense which was week one. Since then Desean Jackson, Alshon Jeffrey, Nelson Agholor, Jordan Howard, Darren Sproles, Jason Peters and Lane Johnson have all missed time to injuries. Mack Hollins and Jordan Matthews was cut and now going into week 16 Carson Wentz’s receiving core is Greg Ward, JJ Arecega-Whiteside, Robert Davis, Josh Perkins and the Tight End duo of Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Yeah, it’s THAT bad. You would think with the laundry list of injuries to the offense the offense would not be able to recover and they would mail it in for the season. That’s not the case at all whereas Wentz is playing his best football during the last 3 games. Opponents aside, Wentz is building chemistry with this hungry group of practice squad hopefuls. On 3 games alone if the receivers catch the ball this is a 10-4 team and we are having a completely different narrative for Wentz but even still, Wentz has been trending upwards with the least amount to work with.

“Carson Wentz the last 3 games: 65.4% 300 Passing YPG 8 TDs 1 INT 2 Fumbles lost”

In back to back weeks he’s led the offense in the 4th and in overtime to game winning drives. Carson for the first time since the 2017 season has a momentum trail of playing well going into playing Dallas in the most important game of the season. Carson is slowly answering all the questions you need from your franchise QB. He’s played in all 14 games is on pace to play all 16 which he hasn’t done since his rookie year. He’s leading to teams to go ahead and winning drives to close the games and most of all he’s doing it with all the injuries to the skill position players on the outside. When Carson tore his ACL in 2017 and Nick Foles finished the season off to win the Superbowl, it cast the biggest shadow in Philadelphia Sports history that Carson Wentz had to break out of. Wentz has the chance to ease all the doubters and detractors if they win against Dallas in week 16. The Eagles control their own destiny and Wentz can finally start in that elusive playoff game that has also been a major knock on him as well. Beating Dallas will be the next stepping stone to leave no doubt for Wentz. Yes the defense need to step up especially with their history that hasn’t fared well against Zeke Elliot but in the end, although I hate putting wins and losses on the quarterbacks, Carson Wentz needs to be the best player on the field on Sunday and that is undisputed.
