2019 Fantasy Football Week 16 Start/Sit Part 1

2019 Fantasy Football Week 16 Start/Sit Part 1

The playoffs are here and its time to make some tough choices to try and bring home the win. Its time to analyze your roster and see who to start this week that will give you the best chance at a victory and who to sit to avoid that stinging defeat.

Alvin Kamara -NO-RB:

Kamara has not had a dominant fantasy season. Ever since he missed time with his ankle injury Kamara has not looked the same. He has not been as involved in the offense and it doesn’t appear that he has the same explosiveness as he did before. The Saints are facing the Titans this week and the Titans have a good defense. The Saints will also be on the road and will play outside. This is not the optimal situation for Kamara. The Titans have a good run defense and I expect them to play very well. The Titans still have a chance to make the playoffs so I expect that they will be focused and play at a high level. With the Saints on a short week, I would try and avoid Kamara if I have a better top 20 option.

Kenyan Drake – ARI-RB:

Since moving to the Cardinals Drake has shown why he should be the primary ball carrier in the offense. Last week Drake scored 4 TD and rushed for 137 yards. He had a monster game and continued to show why the Cardinals made a move to get him. This week Drake will face the Seahawks at home and it looks like he could have another good game. The Seahawks give up 28.3 points a game to RBs. With Drake’s success and taking the bulk of the carries in the backfield I would start Drake with confidence this week.

Gardner Minshew- JAX- QB:

Start

Minshew madness has taken over this year. Minshew has shown that he is a capable QB in the NFL and when he is on the field, he seems to give the Jags different energy. This week the Jags will head into Atlanta to face the Falcons. The Falcons are coming off a huge win against the 49ers so there is a chance that there is a let down for them coming into this game. The Falcons give up the 5th most points to QB so far this season at 26.2. I expect that the Jags will go into Atlanta with Minshew at the helm and be able to win. This game could end up turning into a high scoring affair, so if you need a streamer or an upgrade at QB I would look to start Minshew this week.

Mitchell Trubisky- CHI- QB:

Trubisky and the Bears offense has improved from the sluggish beginning. The Bears have looked a lot better than they did and have seemed to figure out what they are doing on offense to be successful. Even last week in Green Bay the Bears were expected to struggle and they were able to find success through the air. This week the Bears will face the Chiefs at home. The high-powered Chiefs offense will make this game tough for the Bears to stay in it. The Chief’s defense has also been getting better as the year has gone on. With a few big games to show that they are a defense that can be dangerous and a force to be reckoned with. They also claimed Suggs off waivers this week and he could help them out if he plays this week. This is going to be a tough game for Trubisky and against the Chiefs secondary that is only giving up 15.7 points a game to opposing QBs. If I had a better option at QB this week I would try to avoid him this week.

AJ Brown- TEN- WR:

Start

Brown has been one of the surprises of this year. He has thrived since Tannehill took over at QB for the Titans. There have been some growing pains and games where he was not a top performer, but the upside he can provide is hard to ignore. This week the Titans could end up in a high scoring affair with the Saints. The Saints are giving up 45.8 points a game to WRs this year, so the script should be set. I expect that Brown will have a good game this week in a favorable matchup. Start him unless you are very deep at WR.

John Brown- BUF- WR:

Brown exploded at the beginning of the year. At one point he was a top 10 WR and was a solid start each week. There has been a slump since then and Brown has not been as efficient as he started. This week the Bills will travel to face the Pats. There is a very good chance that Brown will see a lot of Gilmore. I think that Brown is going to have a tough time against the Pats on the road. I would avoid him if I have a different option with a higher upside.
