In the 2020 NFL Draft, the Panthers Select Derrick Brown

#7 Overall Draft Pick By The Panthers Is…

With the 7th Overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers select Derrick Brown. Brown is the number 1 rated Defensive Tackle in the 2020 NFL draft. Standing at 6’5, weighing in at 318 pounds, Brown is a bully in the interior of the defensive line.

The Carolina Panthers are a team who is coming off a terrible year on defense. Ranking bottom 10 in run defense. With the loss of Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe, Defensive tackle was one of the biggest needs for the Panthers heading into the draft. Pairing Brown with Kawann Short is going to be nice for the years to come for the Panthers.

Overview of 2020 NFL Draft Pick

Derrick Brown did not have the best combine performance. Some reports had said it was a lazy performance. The film will show how disruptive Derrick Brown can be. The burst and explosiveness off the snap are the best in this draft class. Brown will be a huge part of getting pressure on the Quarterback alongside Brian Burns, last year’s 1st round draft pick.

In Derrick Brown’s final season with the Auburn Tigers, Brown played in 12 games. In those 12 games, Brown ended with 32 solo tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks. These are all career highs for Brown in his 4 years at Auburn besides the sacks. Brown’s career high in sacks is 4.5 in 2018.
