The Rams did not have any first-round picks due to the Jalen Ramsey trade with Jacksonville. Les Snead and company decided to stay put at picks #52 and #57 of the 2nd round and go with two playmakers for Jared Goff. Let’s dive in and discuss their fits and fantasy impacts!
Round 2, Pick 52: Cam Akers, RB Florida State
It was a luxury to draft Todd Gurley’s replacement this early, in my opinion. That doesn’t make Akers a bad back or mean he won’t be productive, but this may have been too early to go RB. Akers is a physical specimen who was originally the #3 recruit in America coming out of high school. FSU’s offensive line was horrendous throughout his college career and he was still wildly productive. Akers is a fantastic replacement for Gurley. The Rams have to hope players at other positions of need fall to them in later rounds.
Fantasy impact: Akers is the back to have in the Rams backfield. This seriously devalues Darrell Henderson‘s shares.

Round 2, Pick 57: Van Jefferson, WR Florida
I’m excited to have him in LA, but I’m biased because he’s a personal favorite. The NFL comparison you will see most often for Jefferson is actually the Rams’ own Cooper Kupp. He is a route technician who showed flashes for brilliance at Ole Miss before transferring to Florida and realizing some of his ridiculous potential. Having a Cooper Kupp clone is a nightmare for defensive coordinators because they will now have to leave one in single coverage. The 2020 Rams offense should be a lot of fun if we can address our interior OL in later rounds.
Fantasy impact: We’ll have to take a wait and see approach as to how he’s used in the new-look 2020 offense. Dynasty owners should look to own shares, as he could be valuable long-term.
