Welcome back to our Arizona Cardinals social media series. In case you missed it a couple weeks ago we went through our offensive starters. A year after having one of the weakest defenses in football the Cardinals find themselves with new starters at every level. Here we will dive a little bit more into who’s going to be defending the University of Phoenix field this upcoming season.
Age: 32 – Hometown: Louisville, KY – College: Kentucky
Corey has been one of the Cardinals longest-tenured starters on the defensive side, he is the team’s NFLPA rep. He’s been married to his wife Gemma since 2013. He spends a lot of his personal time doing youth outreach and these are his biggest impacts on Arizona Cardinals social media. One of his main causes is The Corey Peters Playbook which is a program that has tried to establish an online book club of high school students in the state.
Age: 27 – Hometown: Towanda, KS – College: Oklahoma
One of the Cardinals biggest FA additions this year just had a daughter born this past March. He also has a young son, who you can see above is getting out on the links early. He’s had a great deal of family tragedy, with both his parents out of his life at a young age and his grandparents taking him in. As he entered high school his grandparents could no longer take care of him and he moved in with a friend’s family. Jordan got engaged last offseason. His other interests also include photography, bowling, and fishing.
Age: 22 – Hometown: New Canaan, CT – College: Boston College
Zach is a very soft-spoken player with very little online presence. However, his long time girlfriend Molly shares a little more of the couple’s life with them spending a lot of time in the outdoors and traveling.
Age: 30 – Hometown: Brownsburg, IN – College: Syracuse
Chandler is a great follow on social media (although he just cleared out his Instagram this week), he’s a rare teammate that interacts with the offensive players as much as the defensive players. He can be often seen playing Call of Duty with Chase Edmonds and Budda Baker. After the end of last season, he and Budda were hanging out quite a bit. Chandler is famously brothers with UFC legend Jon Jones and fellow NFL player Arthur Jones. He also has a Twitch channel.
Age: 29 – Hometown: Phoenix, AZ – College: USC
Devon’s father Derek, was drafted in the 2nd round by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1984 and was part of the team when they moved to Phoenix in 1987. Because of that Devon was actually born in Phoenix and grew up there. He actually went to school with the team’s reporter and content producer Lisa Matthews. Along with football, Devon has a great deal of ventures outside of football, such as real estate (you can read this article in Forbes detailing his work in that field here), as well as encouraging youth mentorship and literacy. He has a very good website detailing all of his off-field ventures devonkennard.com.
In addition to all of his other ventures, he got married back in February and has a daughter with his wife Camille.
Age: 28 – Hometown: Colorado Springs, CO – College: Texas
Jordan has been with his wife Ivana for eight years, married for three. They have two boys together. His wife and he are animal lovers and cover adoption fees for many animal shelters, most recently for an organization called emancipet.
Age: 27 – Hometown: Fort Myers, FL – College: Minnesota
De’Vondre is the first player I’ve come across when looking through Arizona Cardinals social media with a private Instagram. On Twitter, he’s outspoken about a lot of issues. He’s not a very vocal player but wants to make sure what he says matters. Additionally, last offseason he hosted his first football camp in his home state of Florida (however he obviously wasn’t able to do this year). He is married with 3 kids.
Age: 21 – Hometown: Omaha, Nebraska – College: Clemson
Isaiah has already made an impact on the Arizona community by donating 60,000 meals to the Harvest Compassion Center in the Valley almost immediately after being drafted here. In all of his pre-draft profiles, he comes off as a very soft-spoken person. He comes from a family of athletes as his older brother played college ball and his Dad is a former collegiate track athlete. Isaiah is also really into fishing, angling, and all things water sports.
Age: 30 – Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, FL – College: LSU
Patrick had been with his Wife Antoinique since they met at LSU They got married in 2012. She has been completing her residency at a local Arizona hospital. The couple has two kids, the most recent born this past December. Patrick is an avid golfer and has competed in many Pro-Am’s and other celebrity golf tournaments (he was just in the American Century Championship with Fitz and Carson Palmer last week). He also has a personal website where you can get P2 merch here.
Age: 31 – Hometown: Hammond, LA – College: SE Louisiana
Robert married his wife Brionne three years ago and they have two children. She is the children’s author of a series called Jaxson’s Time Machine (you can check that out here). Robert is good friends with Patrick Peterson, which is part of the reason he came over the the Cards last offseason. He still lives in Atlanta during the offseason. Robert’s older brother played one year in the NFL as well. In addition, we wish him all the best this upcoming season coming back from a broken leg suffered in training camp last year.
Age: 22 – Hometown: Scottsdale, AZ – College: Washington
Byron was high school teammates with Christian Kirk and college teammates with Budda Baker. While he was at college he had a kid back in Arizona, thankfully he was drafted to AZ, so he gets to be in his three-year-old’s life. Recently he’s been working out with his good friend and fellow Arizona native N’Keal Harry.
Age: 24 – Hometown: Bellevue, WA – College: Washington
Age: 22 – Hometown: Paramount. CA – College: Alabama
Jalen doesn’t have much of a presence on social media, his twitter is also protected. He was selected in the supplemental draft last season and ended up starting the rest of the season after DJ Swearinger was released.
In summary, after going through the main 22 starters of the Arizona Cardinals social media, it really seems like the Cardinals have a great group of guys on this team. Let’s hope we get to see them in action soon enough!
