Top fantasy football QB options for week 14

It’s week 14 of the NFL season, which means the best time of the year has just begun for football fans. The next two months will be filled with meaningful football, but the most important games for fantasy managers are about to start. Whether you’ve made it to the playoffs already, or are looking at a game of week 14 musical chairs for the last seat, here are this weeks top QB options.

1. Russell Wilson vs Jets

It’s no secret the dishes we’ve “Let Russ Cook” over the last month would get him on Gordon Ramsay’s bad side. With that said, it’s still Russell Wilson who can go off against anyone. Wilson’s string of appearances on “Hell’s Kitchen” should end against the Jets, who allow the 3rd most fantasy points to QBs.

2. Aaron Rodgers vs Lions

This is another match made in heaven, with Rodgers being a top five QB and the Lions having a bottom 10 defense. The Lions fired head coach Matt Patricia, which certainly didn’t help their defense in his first weeks absence. The Bears scored a season high 30 points against them, and Mitchell Trubisky’s 7.85 Y/A was over an entire yard higher than the next best performance by a Bears QB this season.

3. Patrick Mahomes @ Dolphins

We all know Mahomes can, and probably will go off any Sunday. Even against a stout Dolphins defense, the MVP-candidate remains a no-brainer plug and play.

4. Deshaun Watson @ Bears

The Bears have had a solid defense this season, but their last few performances have been poor. They’ve given up an average of 37.5 points and over 25 points to opposing QBs the last two weeks. Watson on the other hand, has been on fire for almost the entire second half of the season. He’s playing passionate football and gets to play the team that notoriously passed on him in the draft for the first time.

5. Justin Herbert vs Falcons

Not only is Justin Herbert a top seven fantasy QB in PPG, he also gets the privilege of playing the Falcons. The Falcons allow the most points to QBs in the NFL, with 24.4 PPG. Expect Herbert to have a bounce back game.

6. Ryan Tannehill @ Jaguars

This is another case of top seven QB vs bottom seven defense. In their last matchup, Tannehill threw for four TDs and just shy of 27 fantasy points. Don’t be afraid of firing up the former Dolphin against an poor Jags secondary.

7. Matt Ryan @ Chargers

It seems like everyone gets their piece of the pie when playing the Chargers. Even QBs like Joe Flacco, Drew Lock and Gardner Minshew combined for 656 yards and seven touchdowns against them. Veteran Matt Ryan will get back on track against a squishy defense after a rough stretch.

8. Kyler Murray @ Giants

The Giants turned a lot of heads with their defensive performance against Seattle last week. Their job doesn’t get much easier this week, having to contain Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins. Both teams are somehow in the thick of the playoff hunt, and this is a must win game. Kliff Kingsbury is going to need to be aggressive to avoid dropping to seven losses.

9. Lamar Jackson @ Browns

Even in the midst of a down year, Lamar Jackson is a top 10 fantasy QB in PPG. The Browns allow 20.5 PPG to QBs, and it’s not hard to believe Lamar will go off in this must win game.

10. Taysom Hill @ Eagles

Tayson Hill has only thrown two touchdowns in his games at QB, but he’s run for another four. Whatever the Saints are doing, its working. They’re 8-0 with backup QB’s over the last two season and Hill has averaged over 20 points in his games at QB. They get to play the struggling Eagles this week. If Hill can avoid a fierce Eagles pass rush, there is opportunity to squeeze out a good fantasy performance.

Mentions

There are a lot of good options this week at the QB position, but if none of the guys mentioned are available to you, there are still more options. Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford, Big Ben, and Tom Brady are all players that should leave you feeling comfortable at QB this week with their match ups.
