When JJ Arcega Whiteside was drafted he was taken to eventually take the place of Alshon Jeffrey. He was listed as 6-2, 225 pounds and has a 80 inch wingspan. He was heralded for his ability to make tough 50/50 catches and good instincts to track passes. When injuries raided the Eagles WR group, Arcega-Whiteside had to step into a position he wasn’t even close to being prepared for, crossed trained at multiple positions under Carson Walch and as a result the comparisons of him and DK Metcalf, Terry McLaurin and even the WRs taken beforehand over him, it’s looks bad. The 22 and now 23 year old rookie struggle to find his rhythm in the offense only finishing the season with 10 catches for 169 yards and a TD. Very disappointing indeed but let’s call off the dogs and stop calling him a bust.
When Nick Foles was drafted with the 88th pick to the Philadelphia Eagles, he was viewed as a consolation prize for missing out on Russell Wilson. Since then he had one of the most unparalleled careers in NFL History, from throwing 27 TD’s and 2 INT’s in 2013 under Chip Kelly to getting traded to the Rams for Sam Bradford, to getting benched for Case Keenum, almost retiring until Andy Reid signed him to backup Alex Smith in Kansas City to then coming back to Philadelphia in 2017. Foles then would be given the biggest task of his career and that was to take the helm in relief for an injured Carson Wentz and finish the fight to help them win the Superbowl. Foles shocked the world by out dueling Tom Brady in Superbowl 52 and bringing home the Lombardi Trophy for the first time in Franchise history.
It’s been 10 years & 3 coaching changes since Duce Staley got on the staff. If he doesn’t become OC he should feel some type of way about it.
It’s official, the Philadelphia Eagles stomach- churning roller coaster ride of a season is over! After winning the last four straight do-or-die games, the Eagles limped into the playoffs as the NFC East champions at 9-7. The storylines were booked, Carson Wentz’s first playoff appearance with practice squad wide receivers, the heroic story of Boston Scott and an injury list that spans the length of a football field. And we all know what happened after that, Carson Wentz goes down in the first quarter… and well we won’t relive the rest.
The Philadelphia Eagles made it to the playoff finish held together by scotch tape. However their playoff hopes ended with a Carson Wentz concussion and the 40 year old Josh McCown doing his best but still on a losing end to the Seahawks 17-9. Even with the injuries they have building blocks with Wentz, Sanders, Goedert, Dillard and steady vets such as Brooks, Johnson, Cox, Graham and Jenkins if a deal is finalized. With a long offseason ahead for Howie Roseman, he needs to make some tough decisions and try to reload for another playoff push next season. Here are my thoughts on the 16 free agents for the Eagles and whether they should stay or they should go.
During the Summer, a lot of drama was centered around Malcolm Jenkins and his no show to OTA’s as the rumor started about wanting a new contract extension. In spite of that, Jenkins was a full participant in both mini & training camp continuing to lead by example with his leadership, versatility and off the field work. When Jenkins came to the team after the 2013 season in free agency, I had my doubts considering I wanted Jairus Byrd or TJ Ward over the former Saints safety. When we signed Jenkins he was apart of the Saints defense that came off one of the worse statistical defenses in league history. However 6 years has passed and I’m willing to admit I was wrong. Both Ward and Byrd are out of the league and Jenkins has made two pro bowls, an all pro in 2015, and helped the Eagles win a Superbowl in 2017. Still at 32 years old Jenkins is still having a very good season and has helped the Eagles get to the playoffs for the 3rd straight year in a row.
Assuming the Eagles take care of business next week against the Giants for the division title, the Eagles will be poised once again to make a serious run in the playoffs. See the following article for more details and insights!
When Coach Yoast from Remember The Titans said leave no doubt after inspiring the defense to play lights out for Coach Boone, that was one of my favorite moments from Remember the Titans. On December 22nd at Lincoln Financial Field, the Eagles played host to the Dallas Cowboys with the season of the line and the words from Coach Yoast rang through the entire Eagles team. With the Linc as loud as the night the Eagles blew the doors off against the Vikings in the NFC Championship game, the Eagles played their most complete game of the season. The offense even with missing 5 starters and Zach Ertz playing with taped up ribs and still managed to conduct long drives, a rhythm passing attack and Miles Sanders run to ice the game in the 4th. The defense in which Jim Schwartz and the rest of the defensive’s staff job was on the line held the Cowboys offense to 9 points and didn’t allow a single touchdown. If it wasn’t for two badly missed Jake Elliot field goals, the Eagles would have won by double digits. The biggest takeaway from this game, was the leaders of this Eagles team needed to step up and lead by example in this game and all of them did. Let’s start with the defense.
When it comes to NFC East opponents Carson Wentz and the Eagles have had their difficulties but in the end walks out with the win. Carson has won every game against the Giants with his only loss being his first game against the Giants his rookie Year. Since then he’s won 5 straight. Wentz has also won 5 straight against Washington as well with this past Sunday’s win to keep them in the NFC East divisional title hopes. However when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys, this is the opponent that they can’t shake

The Philadelphia Eagles enter their 2019 training camp with seven safeties on the current roster. Those seven safeties are Malcolm Jenkins, Rodney McLeod, Tre Sullivan, Blake Countess, Andrew Sendejo, Deiondre’ Hall, and Trae Elston. Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod are absolute locks to make the Eagles final 53-man roster when the season starts on September 8th. The Eagles will most likely carry four safeties during the season to give the team depth at the position in case of injury. The question going into camp is which if the remaining five safeties will grab the last two safety spots on the roster. It will be a great camp battle between Blake Countess, Tre Sullivan, Deiondre’ Hall, Trae Elston, and veteran safety Andrew Sendejo…
